The house is totally timber lined and has timber flooring. Cathedral ceilings dominate the downstairs living area. Enjoy a bath, an open fire, airconditioning and luxury amenities. Just relax, be spoilt and take in the beauty of the north of bold, beautiful Flinders Island.

A couple of minutes walk finds you on Palana Beach, which has to be seen to be believed. North East River and Killiecrankie are recommended visitor spots while you are at this end of the island and are only a short drive away. There are a couple of other secret spots that we'll tell you about when you are here.

If you are after a latte a short stroll away, then this is not for you, but we have facilities to make your own special coffee without even leaving the front door. If you're after a place where the nearest shop is 50 kms away and the loudest noises are the birds on the river and the crash of the waves on the beach, and the milky way looks the way it did when you were a kid when the skies were crystal clear, then you have found the perfect place to enjoy nature the way it was meant to be. And there is so much more to Flinders Island. Take a look at the website .

We can even organise an onsite massage from Maree Crawford, an island resident. What better way to relax.

We have an extensive wine list, so you won't have to lug your wine with you. As at December 2018 we now have fast 4G Telstra coverage, so you won't miss a thing. FOXTEL is available to keep you entertained, whether it be your favourite show or sport. A selection of music CD's and DVD's are also available free of charge as well as 100's of free movies.

An increasing number of our past guests are now ratepayers on Flinders Island and most of them own land in Palana. That must say something about the place. They just keep on coming back.

Palana Beach   .....

And the beach doesn't need much explanation, other than the fact that you are likely to be the only people on it. As your host is the orginal permanent resident of Palana Village, and now there are only a handful of us, your tranquility is assured.

We have a saying on the island, "If you find footprints in the sand, then find another beach". After all we have 120 of them around the islands!

If you can spare an hour, take a stroll the length of the beach and back. If you haven't got the time to spare, just sit and admire it.

Your Accommodation  .....

Palana Retreat is Flinders Island's northernmost luxury accommodation, without the price tag

Your modern two storey, two bedroom, two bathroom accommodation overlooks Blyth Bay, Pratts River, Inner and Outer Sister Islands.

We offer free transfers to and from Whitemark and Killiecrankie airports for stays of 2 or more nights.

The two bedrooms comprise the master bedroom upstairs with queen sized bed and its own private balcony and cafe setting. It also has its own bathroom.

Downstairs, the second bedroom can accommodate two single beds or a king sized bed. A second bathroom, complete with a large corner bath and shower is adjacent, where you can unwind and look out over the river below and the bay. On a full moon it's magical, even without it, it's bliss. With upgraded furniture we can now accommodate 6 utilising sofa beds.

Catering for families as well, we have a portacot, car seat, high chair and a pusher to make life a little easier. These are provided free of charge.

On your arrival a freshly cooked, award winning, crusty loaf of bread will await you, along with a complimentary bottle of wine to help you unwind. We haven't changed the recipe in over 10 years, as everyone seems to love it. With luck we may even be able to sort out a cray for you.
